Washington, D.C.—Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) released the following statement on President Trump and Republicans' decision to temporarily reopen the federal government and end the Trump Shutdown:

"It has taken 35 days for President Trump and Senator McConnell to agree to reopen the government and pay federal employees. But the pocketbooks of 800,000 workers who lived in uncertainty for more than a month will not be able to recover immediately. Furthermore, any appropriations agreement needs to include backpay for contract workers.
