WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), a resident of the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago, issued the following statement after the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released body-worn camera footage from the police killing of Adam Toledo, a 13-year-old from Little Village:
"I feel grief, anger, and pain. Whatever the circumstance, we must never normalize the shooting of a child by police. We failed Adam, as we have failed so many other young people in our country.
CHICAGO, IL — Today, Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) joined Congresswoman Marie Newman (IL-03), Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR), and transit leaders to highlight local transportation and infrastructure priorities in the Midwest region as Congress pushes forward with passing President Biden's American Jobs Plan.
Community Project Funding
Community Project Funding (CPF) is an initiative for Fiscal Year 2023 that will allow Members of Congress to request direct funding for projects that benefit the communities they represent. CPF is separate from federal grants and funding apportioned by formula. CPF's are also not normal appropriations requests, which deal with funding levels for individual federal programs. Please see our normal appropriations request form if you are looking to submit a normal appropriations request.

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) issued the following statement after he voted in favor of H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446, bills that would require background checks for every gun sale and close existing loopholes.
"I represent a district and a city disproportionately affected by gun violence. In 2020 alone, Chicago suffered 3,261 shootings and 769 murders. The majority of victims were Black and Latino youth—the sons, daughters, colleagues, and friends of people in my neighborhood and across the city.
