Help Name the Pilsen Post Office
A classroom-based initiative led by Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García
Students across Pilsen are invited to research and nominate a person whose work has made a meaningful impact on the community. This project connects classroom learning with real-world civic participation—and helps shape a lasting community recognition.
Who Can Participate
- High Schools in the Pilsen Area
- History, Civics, Government & Social Studies classes
How It Works
- Teachers lead a short in-class activity (2–4 periods)
- Each class submits one nominee
- Students research and make the case
Eligibility
Nominees must:
- Be deceased
- Have a clear connection to Pilsen or the 4th District
- Demonstrate impact in public service, education, labor, civil rights, or military service
Timeline
- Launch: April 8, 2026
- Deadline: May 15, 2026
- Selection: Late May
- Announcement: June
