WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and Mike Quigley (IL-05) sent a letter to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure calling for strong support for cultural institutions in the upcoming infrastructure package.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), a resident of the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago, issued the following statement after the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released body-worn camera footage from the police killing of Adam Toledo, a 13-year-old from Little Village:
"I feel grief, anger, and pain. Whatever the circumstance, we must never normalize the shooting of a child by police. We failed Adam, as we have failed so many other young people in our country.
WASHINGTON, DC.-- Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) voted today in support of H.R. 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act, legislation that seeks to address gender wage discrimination. Congressman García issued the following statement:
"Equal pay for equal work is a basic principle for any fair society, but our country has never lived up to it. Today I voted for the Paycheck Fairness Act to change that and ensure pay equity for women in the workforce.
Washington D.C. — Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, reintroduced the INSURANCE Act to ensure minimum insurance requirements for motor carriers are periodically adjusted to the inflation rate of medical costs. Minimum insurance requirements for motor carriers were established in 1980 and have never been adjusted for inflation. A version of the INSURANCE Act passed as an amendment to H.R.
