Congressman García’s Statement on the 10th Anniversary of DACA
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) released the following statement to mark the tenth anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiative, established by President Obama on June 15th, 2012:

WASHINGTON, DC - El Congresista Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) emitió la siguiente declaración en conmemoración el décimo aniversario de la iniciativa Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA, por sus siglas en inglés), establecida por el presidente Obama el 15 de junio de 2012:

“As TD Bank seeks approval from your agency…to become the sixth-largest bank in the U.S., the OCC should closely examine any ongoing wrongdoing and block any merger until TD Bank is held responsible for its abusive practices.”
In a letter sent Friday to the state’s Department of Public Safety, House Democrats Joaquin Castro, Veronica Escobar, Jesus Garcia, Raul Grijalva and Norma Torres criticized the agency for issuing most information and press briefings following the May 24 massacre, in which 19 children and two teachers died, only in English. Uvalde, located some 60 miles from the Mexican border, has a population that’s 81% Latino, with 55% of people speaking a language other than English at home.
