WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Jesús “Chuy'' García (IL-04), issued the following statement after the end of Title 42.

“Title 42 was a racist Trump policy designed to restrict asylum rights using public health as an excuse, part of a decades-long process of removing legal pathways to migration and militarizing our border. Even though the implementation of Title 42 was a mistake, its end presents its own set of challenges. 

WASHINGTON, DC– Today, Congressman Jesús “Chuy'' García (IL-04), issued a statement on the introduction of his two amendments to H.R. 1163, the Republicans’ “Surprise Billing our Worker’s Act.”

“I am disappointed that Republicans passed this bill which will take away income that working people received during the pandemic through no fault of their own.
