CHICAGO, IL.- Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), Vice Chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources which has oversight on issues pertaining the U.S. territories, issued the following statement regarding Puerto Rico's plans to privatize its electrical grid next week:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Seeking to make highways around the nation safer for drivers, Rep. Jesús G. "Chuy" García (IL-04) and Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) reintroduced the Safe Roads Act of 2021, which would direct the Department of Transportation to require that all new tractor trailers be equipped with and use an automatic emergency braking system.

Specifically, the bill mandates the use of automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems for truck-tractors with electronic stability control (ESC) technology within one of year of becoming law.

WASHINGTON, DC– Today, Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (D-IL), Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (D-CT) and U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), reintroduced the Diversifying by Investing in Educators and Students to Improve outcomes For Youth (DIVERSIFY) Act, legislation that would complement the important administrative fixes to the TEACH Grant proposed in the College Affordability Act by ensuring the grant amount closely matches college costs.
