Washington, DC- Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García issued the following statement on the passing of Pastor Victor H. Rodriguez:
"I was saddened to learn the tragic news of the passing of Pastor Vic, as we all called him. This is a huge loss for my district and for Chicago. Years ago, he was able to purchase an abandoned church and transform it into one of the most important community centers in Little Village, with a bilingual, multi-cultural congregation that attracted young people from across the city.

"It has taken 35 days for President Trump and Senator McConnell to agree to reopen the government and pay federal employees. But the pocketbooks of 800,000 workers who lived in uncertainty for more than a month will not be able to recover immediately. Furthermore, any appropriations agreement needs to include backpay for contract workers.
