Washington, DC -Today Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) introduced the Our Homes Our Votes Act, a bill that facilitates voter registration for residents of federally subsidized housing by allowing them to register to vote as they sign their lease. The bill has 18 original cosponsors.

The MORE Act is a step toward restorative justice and away from the over-policing of our communities.

Washington, DC - Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led a bicameral letter signed by 73 Members of Congress to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting the issuance of a worldwide temporary general license to allow coronavirus-related humanitarian trade to flow to U.S. sanctioned countries. Previous Administrations, both Republican and Democrat, have issued similar licenses to address humanitarian crises as need arose around the world.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) today unveiled the Lead-Safe Housing for Kids Act of 2020, legislation to protect children in federally-assisted housing from dangerous lead exposure and poisoning. The Lead-Safe Housing for Kids Act of 2020 would adopt federal prevention measures, including comprehensive risk assessments, to determine the presence of lead hazards.
