Washington, DC- Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) released the following statement today on the passage of H.R. 6074, the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, that provides emergency federal funding to address the coronavirus:
"Our country needs an effective and coordinated government response to confront the coronavirus. Today, I voted to approve $8.3 billion in emergency funding to meet the scale and severity of this public health crisis.
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) issued the following statement in response to the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit to block the Trump Administration Migrant Protection Protocols, also known as the ‘Remain in Mexico' policy:
"Today the court has agreed with immigration advocates and civil rights organizations: the United States cannot send people to a country where they face persecution, grave danger and even death. The ‘Remain in Mexico' policy violates federal immigration law.
