Washington, D.C. — Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) joined labor and faith leaders at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol to demand justice for the Media Luna gold mine unionists assassinated and disappeared in Mexico, and to call for stronger labor standards in the revised North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Quintin Salgado, Marcelino Sahuanitla Peña and Víctor Sahuanitla Peña were murdered by anti-union vigilantes last year and the crimes remain unsolved.

Washington, D.C. - Congressmen Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) today reintroduced the Forbidding Airlines from Imposing Ridiculous (FAIR) Fees Act, legislation that would prohibit airlines from charging fees, including cancellation, change, and bag fees, that are not reasonable and proportional to the costs of the services actually provided. The bill also directs the Department of Transportation to review any other fees charged by airlines.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and Glenn Grothman (WI-06) introduced the Veterans and Consumers Fair Credit Act, which would extend small dollar "payday" and car-title 36% rate cap protections established under the Military Lending Act (MLA) to all consumers, including veterans and their families. The bill will better protect consumers, particularly military personnel, from certain predatory lending practices.
