“I am proud of all the talented young constituents that participated in this contest, and I congratulate Chelsea for representing our district and winning the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Chelsea’s artwork reminds us of the importance of ensuring the elderly have access to adequate healthcare, financial security, and services. I look forward to seeing her piece hanging on the wall each time I walk to vote in the Capitol,” said Congressman García.
“I am very grateful to Congressman García, this art competition is a great opportunity to show my art and point of view. The theme ‘care for the elderly’ of my art affects so many people in the district and around the world,” said Chelsea Garcia García.
About the Competition
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The winning works are displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
