Congressman García Announces New Staff Hire and Promotion

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) announced a staff promotion and new staff hire in his Washington, D.C. congressional office. Naomi Meria Lake, formerly a Senior Legislative Assistant, will now serve as Legislative Director, and Megan Seymour has joined Team Chuy to lead his Transportation & Infrastructure Committee work as a Legislative Assistant.

“I am enthusiastic about the talented professionals we’ve been able to uplift, with demonstrated skills and commitment to improve the quality of life of the people I represent in Chicago and suburban Cook and DuPage Counties,” said Congressman García.

Naomi Meria Lake Promoted to Legislative Director

Naomi Meria Lake has worked for Congressman García since he was elected to Congress in 2019. Her legislative work is focused on foreign affairs, international monetary policy, civil rights, and criminal justice. She has served in several positions in the office of Congressman García including Legislative Correspondent, Legislative Assistant and Senior Legislative Assistant. Born and raised in Chicago, she worked for local political campaigns before joining the Congressman’s campaign in 2018. She also served as a research assistant and translator at several academic institutions. Naomi earned a bachelor’s degree in History with a Certificate in Translation and Intercultural Communication from Princeton University.

Megan Seymour Joins Team Chuy as Legislative Assistant

Megan Seymour is a Legislative Assistant with over five years of experience in transportation and environmental policy. She joins Congressman García’s office from the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where she worked on diverse transportation policy areas, including aviation, maritime transportation, highways, and rail. She started her career in environmental advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation, where she led efforts to elect environmental allies to all levels of government as well as campaigned to pass conservation legislation in Congress. She is passionate about ensuring an equitable transition to a clean, sustainable future through data-driven policies. Megan is originally from Fairfax, Virginia and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
