Representative Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Todd Young (R-IN) introduced the Lead-Safe Housing for Kids Act, which would require the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to update its lead poisoning prevention measures to reflect modern science and ensure that families and children living in federally-assisted housing are protected from the devastating consequences of lead poisoning.
U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García (D-4th), senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, recently led a letter joined by 121 Members of Congress urging House Democratic leadership to reject any changes to the pilot retirement age in a final version of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill.

Village officials announced March 14 a grant for $959,752 received through U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia’s office. As Garcia noted in a news release, the funding will increase public safety by replacing lead water pipes and also improve appearances.
“The funding goes beyond road repair as it provides families with access to clean water while creating a more welcoming, landscaped environment,” Garcia stated.
