Transportation Secretary Buttigieg Praises Rep. García’s Role in Passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
CHICAGO – Yesterday, Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, joined U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at a press conference at O’Hare International Airport. Secretary Buttigieg thanked Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) for the key role he and Members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation played in enacting the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Here’s what Secretary Buttigieg said:
"Representative García, so thankful to you and your colleagues. I hope everybody remembers that whenever something is being built with funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the reason we're able to do that is because the Representative and his colleagues, including so many from your delegation here in Illinois, Representatives Quigley and Krishnamoorthi from this area and all — I think all of your House Democrats, the occasional House Republican, maybe not from Illinois, are supporting this law, but they did it even after it was declared dead. And, of course, your terrific Senators Duckworth and Durbin, made that happen, too. And we're thankful for it."
