Rep. García Statement on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) issued the following statement on the announcement made today by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about her future plans:

“It has been a privilege to serve alongside one of the most consequential Speakers in our history, and the first woman to hold the office.  Nancy Pelosi assumed the Speakership with a clear vision: to fight for children, women, working families, LGBTQ+ people and disenfranchised communities. 

“Nancy Pelosi has wielded the Speaker’s gavel with stability and compassion during such trying times, and led Congress to pass transformational legislation that will have an impact beyond our current generation.

“From the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, to the Affordable Care Act, the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, Speaker Pelosi has delivered. I thank her for her service to our nation.”
