Congressman García Statement on Suspicious Mail 

CHICAGO — Statement from Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04):

“This afternoon my staff was alerted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) that a suspicious letter addressed to one of my district offices was intercepted at a local post office. We have given USPIS consent to open and test the letter. 

“My staff is taking all possible precautions handling mail, as these unnerving incidents continue across the country. 

“I am thankful for the diligent work of all law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. These attacks will not intimidate or deter us from serving our constituents.”
