Congressman García’s Statement on the Second Anniversary of the Attack on the U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) issued the following statement on the second anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol:

“Two years ago, violent insurrectionists carried out a deadly attack on our Capitol and our democracy. Thanks to the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, we now have proof of how vast the involvement of Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers was. As we continue the important work of holding the perpetrators of the attack accountable, we must keep in mind this attack on our democracy did not begin or end with what happened in the Capitol. We must do more at the federal, state, and local levels to defend our right to vote. I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure the people’s voice is heard and that our democracy is preserved and strengthened.”
