Rep. García Discusses Mail Delivery Disruptions with USPS and NALC Representatives
Washington, DC — Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) hosted virtual meetings with regional United States Postal Service (USPS) and National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) representatives to discuss the ongoing delivery delays in the Chicagoland area and find solutions to improve future service.
“During 2020, my office received numerous complaints about long delays in mail delivery. These delays are especially worrying during the COVID-19 pandemic, when my constituents rely on the U.S. Postal Service to deliver essential items like medication, unemployment checks, disability benefits, and immigration paperwork.
“I met with representatives from USPS and NALC today to understand the underlying causes of these delays and discuss potential solutions. We also talked about protective measures that can keep our postal employees safe. In addition, we discussed the importance of addressing long-standing issues like bilingual service accessibility. I look forward to continuing these conversations and working with our postal partners,” said Congressman García.
