Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García, Local Elected Officials Join Community Organizations in Support of 100 Units of Affordable Housing in Logan Square
Chicago, IL - Today Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) joined IL State Representative Will Guzzardi and representatives from a coalition of organizations, including the Logan Square Neighborhood Association, in support of a proposal to build 100 units of affordable housing in a transit-oriented development for families near the Logan Square CTA station.
“One of my key priorities in Congress is to promote investment in neighborhoods like Logan Square. Increasing transportation and mobility for our neighborhoods and tying that to affordable housing is critically important.
“The city and the federal government need to do more to support equitable transit-oriented development projects like the Emmett Street Project. This project will create 100 affordable homes next to a CTA station, keep residents in their community, and reduce the risk of displacement due to rising rents.”
“It will stabilize our neighborhoods, prevent families from being displaced and allow people to get to their jobs more easily, whether its downtown or in the suburbs.
“I am committed to helping Chicago and other cities get more funding for these kinds of transit-oriented developments that incorporate affordable housing.”
