Congressman García Reappointed to Financial Services, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Natural Resources Committees for the 117th Congress
Washington, D.C. — This week Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) was reappointed to serve on the Financial Services, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Natural Resources Committees for the 117th Congress. Congressman García issued the following statement:
“My first priority will always be to give the people in my district a voice and a seat at the table. During the COVID-19 pandemic billionaires continue to rake in record profits while working families lose jobs, homes, and loved ones. I’m proud to join Chairwoman Maxine Waters again as a member of the powerful Financial Services Committee where I will fight for affordable housing, rental assistance, and an end to homelessness. I’ll also continue to keep corporations, big banks, and big tech accountable to working families and their employees.
“As a member of the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure under Chairman Peter DeFazio, I look forward to advancing a major infrastructure package with a Democratic House, Senate, and Administration to promote equity, access, and sustainability. With an opportunity to advance a landmark infrastructure package, we can rebuild our nation’s roads, bridges, transit systems, and airports. By making bold investments in our nation’s infrastructure we will create millions of jobs and jumpstart our economy.
“My appointment to the Natural Resources Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Raúl Grijalva, will allow me to continue advocating for indigenous communities and the people of Puerto Rico. There, I will fight to end environmental injustices that disproportionately harm Black, Latino, and marginalized communities like the ones I represent in the Chicagoland area.
“I am grateful to my constituents for sending me back to Washington and I vow to continue working with stakeholders and community members to advance a progressive agenda for all.”
